Our School Teams at Cliffdale
At Cliffdale, we have five school teams, each named after the colours of the Cliffdale Star: Green, Purple, Yellow, Pink, and Red!
Every child and every staff member is part of a team, and it is a key part of how we build our wider school community. Each team includes children from every year group, and once a child is in a team, they stay in it throughout their time at Cliffdale. This helps to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships between children and staff across the school.
One of the highlights of our week is Team Time on Friday mornings. During Team Time, children gather with their team in different areas around the school to take part in a variety of exciting activities. These might include cooking, art, outdoor play, sensory experiences, dance, or food tasting. Team Time finishes with a fun and engaging group circle time, which can involve a Bucket activity, puppet show, or practising our much-loved Team Chant. On a Friday, children and staff are encouraged to dress in their team colour. As part of this we offer specially coloured tshirts with the school logo as part of our uniform!
Our teams also sit together during Friday whole school assemblies. These are full of singing and dancing, and they offer a chance to celebrate the week's achievements. We count up how many points each team has earned through certificates and medals awarded in class—counting, clapping and cheering each other on as we go!
Through our school teams, we bring to life the Cliffdale values as they provide us so many opportunities to increase communication, build relationships, inspire engagement, promote independence and encourage resilience.
