It was a bit of a drizzly day on 9th March, but everyone arrived at school in high spirits dressed up in their book day characters – pupils and staff! The morning was spent in classes doing a variety of fun activities all centred around our favourite books.
Everyone was looking forward to the afternoon when our families would join us for a sponsored walk around the school. At 1.30 everyone was in place and ready to start! We counted down from 10 and set the older children off first, many of whom were determined to get around the circuit as many times as they could!
The children, families and staff, walked round and round and round the circuit that went outside the front of the school, through the playgrounds and back through the building to the front again! Everyone had a card to collect a smiley face on for every completed lap.
A great time was had by all and everyone kept going for the whole hour! Many children walked over 10 laps of the school and a number of the older children achieved over 20 laps. Special mention to Mohammed, Mason and Ty who all managed 29 laps and got their certificates in assembly the following Friday.
The sponsor money came in over the following couple of weeks and we were thrilled to have raised a whopping total of £1,707!! A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the fundraising but enormous thanks especially to Brandon and Harry’s families who helped them to raise £330.50 and £618.30 respectively….absolutely brilliant! Both boys also got special certificates in assembly too!
