World Book Day

World Book Day

On the 8th March everyone arrived at school dressed up as a character from their favourite book

On the 8th March everyone arrived at school dressed up as a character from their favourite book – pupils and staff! Spotted amongst the pupils excitedly arriving at school for the day were Red Riding Hood, a Hungry Caterpillar, Willy Wonka, Horrid Henry, James Bond and even a Big Bad Wolf!  Everyone looked amazing!

The morning was spent in classes doing a variety of fun activities based around each class’s favourite books. There were opportunities for pupils to create models and pictures of book characters, role play their chosen books and visit the school library with their friends. It was a busy morning!

In the afternoon the whole school got together to share and celebrate their favourite books in assembly. The pupils had a fabulous time joining in with a parade to show off their costumes to everyone!  Nicola shared one of her favourite stories with the whole school, it was called ‘The Tiger who came to Tea!’  There was then a chance for pupils to look at and share their favourite books with each other, before certificates were given out for the best costumes in each class.  A great day was had by all, celebrating the joys of books and reading.
