On the 18th September Cliffdale was awash with camouflage colours as we launched our new topic “Survival of the Fittest”. The children came to school ready for an exciting day learning all about how to survive in the wild. Each class rotated around a set of activities designed to excite our pupils for the learning ahead.
Children had the opportunity to build their own dens in the environmental area. They worked hard to make them secure and waterproof to protect themselves from all weather conditions.
In the art room classes used natural resources to produce art work combining leaves, clay, stones and sticks to produce their designs.
A huge part of our learning is going to be based around keeping healthy. Classes were able to test their fitness through either attempting an obstacle course in the hall or taking part in bootcamp exercises in the Muga. Tiger and Crocodile classes recorded how many of each exercise they completed in a minute and are hoping to beat their scores by the end of term.
The children also spent part of the day making and sharing healthy snacks. Each class tried new sandwich fillings, such as cream cheese and cucumber and exotic fruits like mango and pineapple.
Upper school finished the day with assembly in a campsite they created with tents on the field. We shared our learning and enjoyed hot chocolate whilst exploring the tents.
