We are going to be learning about space and stars, the Solar System (including the Earth and Moon), forces and gravity and aliens!
Upper School’s Summer term topic is ‘To Infinity and Beyond!’ We are going to be learning about space and stars, the Solar System (including the Earth and Moon), forces and gravity and aliens!
Crocodile Class, Giraffe Class and Lion Class investigated forces and gravity using different playground equipment, including pushing cars down the slide and dropping balls off the bridge! The pupils really enjoyed playing ‘tug of war’. Leo in Lion Class shouted “pull!” each time he pulled the rope towards him! Leopard Class used Aided Language Boards in the play park and on the bikes and scooter when learning about forces.
Zebra Class learnt about the planets and how they moved around the Sun. Pupils also learnt about the Sun orbiting Earth each day! Gorilla Class made fantastic models to show the orbit, demonstrating excellent fine motor skills to cut and the use split pins to fasten their models together!
Each Upper School class also submitted an entry into the ‘Build a Rocket’ competition! Rockets were constructed out of junk, foil and anything else classes could get their hands on! The categories were ‘Biggest Rocket’, ‘Most Life-like Rocket’ and ‘Most Sparkly’. The winners were Zebra, Crocodile and Elephant Classes and there was also a special mention to Gorilla Class for their efforts!
Pupils also played junk percussion to accompany a piece of music called ‘The Planets’.
