Summer Fayre

Saturday 24th June 2017

What a brilliant Summer Fayre we had today!  Lots of children, families, and friends came to enjoy all the fun of the fayre…and there certainly was lots of fun to be had!  For the children there was a bouncy castle, face painting and lots of new games to try.  ‘Yucky dip’, ‘deal or no deal’, ‘pick a windmill’, ‘beach alley’ and ‘balloon pop’ all proved very popular, with lots of prizes won.

Two other favourites for lots of children were the ‘Human Fruit Machine’ and ‘The Stocks’!  The energetic Power Rangers on the Human Fruit Machine performing their routine before pulling fruit out of their buckets, proved very popular!  If they pulled out 3 fruits that were the same, an inflatable guitar or microphone was the prize for the player!  Two of the staff Andy and Craig, put themselves in the stocks for lots of children to throw wet sponges or fire super soakers at them!  Most children proved to have a very good aim indeed!

In addition to all the fun activities there were several tombolas to enjoy.  The ever popular bottle, chocolate and teddy tombolas were constantly busy throughout the fayre and the ‘Big Raffle’, with lots of great prizes to be won, certainly drew in the crowds.  The possibility of winning a framed Pompey football shirt, two tickets for the Victorious Festival or a children’s go-kart helped us to sell lots of raffle tickets!

Part way through the fayre we were all treated to five lively songs sung by some of the children from the school choir; they all sung beautifully and even had some actions and signs to go with some of the words.  The crowd were very impressed and clapped really loudly when the choir had finished.

There were also plenty of refreshments available including lots of delicious cakes to go with cups of tea, coffee and cold drinks.  Ice cream with sauces and toppings went down well as did the BBQ, with well over 100 burgers and sausages being cooked for the hungry fayre goers!

A huge thank you to all of the staff at Cliffdale who organised and put together the entire fayre.  An even bigger thank you to all of our families and friends, past, present and future for making our summer fayre, such a huge success!  All money raised from the fayre will go towards our fundraising for new school minibuses.
