As always, we had a fabulous time during our team day for this term. The focus for all teams this time has been the creation of team mascots. The upper school spent their time in the morning working together in their teams to complete treasure hunts, planning their mascot and producing artwork. This also included creating biscuit mascots to inspire the pupil’s ideas of characteristics and features. The lower school worked together in their classes on team challenges and created artwork in their team colours.
Later in the day, the whole school joined their team to create a mascot from recycled and reused materials. Winning points for their team by working together, being kind, sharing, being tidy and organised. The teams did a fantastic job producing their team mascots and we celebrated these during our whole school assembly in the afternoon.
For the first time, all the members of each team sat together for assembly. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils in different classes to join up and help each other, singing together and making new friends. The activities included the Mexican wave whilst singing their team chant. This included waving their hands, wiggling their hips, jumping and dancing all whilst trying to coordinate themselves with a wave of chanting and moving around the room. It was very funny to watch and great fun to do. Representatives from each team came up to show their mascots and artwork, the team captains collected the points won and totalled them up. It is very close now and Purple Team took the lead but what will happen next? Pupils have the opportunity to achieve points throughout the week for their certificates, so it could change again soon and the last points aren’t counted until the end of the year. All the teams are working hard to win that trophy!
