Rosh Hashanah

This weekend people of the Jewish faith will be celebrating Rosh Hashannah. This is a really big celebration!

In our assembly on Friday we learned about how this is celebrated by a visit to the Synagogue where the shofar (rams horn) is blown 100 times. In assembly we had a lot of fun counting how many times Jo could blow the shofar….she managed 10 – it was very loud!

During the festival Jewish people think about who is important to them and so team points were awarded for children in each class who had been a good friend this week.

Everyone then enjoyed tasting challah bread, which symbolises the creation of the world, then apples, dipped in honey as this is traditionally eaten during Rosh Hashannah to symbolise the hope that the new year will be filled with sweet and good things.
