In Tiger Class there are a number of car enthusiasts and each week as the class drove past the Porsche Centre on their way to Kayaking there was a lot of excitement. So, we thought we would pay them a visit, to find out more about the cars that they have on display.

One lunchtime in June some of Tiger class and their friends called into the Porsche Centre to take a closer look at the cars. Whilst they were there they had the opportunity to see the mechanics at work and to enjoy some of the complimentary refreshments. However the most exciting part of the visit was the opportunity to sit in the cars for a ‘test drive’ and imagine where they might go on a road trip.

Another highlight included meeting the British racing car driver Derek Bell MBE. Derek was extremely successful in sportscar racing, winning the Le Mans 24 hours five times, the Daytona 24 three times and the World Sportscar Championship twice. He came to say hello to all of the pupils and offered to have his photograph taken with them.

After their visit the pupils used their memories of their time at the Porsche Centre to inspire their writing of a recount and write stories of the journeys that they might like to make in the future.
