Launch of Forest Schools
Autumn has got off to a great start with the launch of five classes going out to Forest School every week for this term. The weather so far has been amazing and the children are really excited to be in the woodland environment!
Crocodiles went to Creech Woods and and noticed lots of changes to the environment! Where had the mud gone? Why were the ditches on our boundary walk empty? Lots of healthy science discussions followed; one of the great benefits of forest school. The children loved finding blackberries too, Lennon wanted to make a pie with his! Then we went to look at the houses we built for the’ little people’ in the wood. They weren’t there! Time to go hunting for the fire dragon!
Tiger class went to 100 Acre wood and learnt all about the boundary of our site exploring all the different plants and trees. Then they found out which places were the best to hide! You can see them all here setting off! They all have forest names now too! This makes it a special time and forest friendship activities help us all learn how to work together.
Elephant and Hippo class have been on a bear hunt in the forest using their sturdy sticks to look very carefully for paw prints. We went under, over and through allsorts of obstacles in the forest! In Hippo class Finlay made it across the ditch balancing on a log and Nasir found the bear! Elephant class found lots of challenges, like Areen, seen here clambering over a huge tree. Zac was very happy when he found the bear too. Giraffe class climbed and scrambled their way round the forest. Jimmy did a great balancing act and Joshua found a bear too!
A fabulous start to Forest school this term; let’s see what the next few weeks bring!
