Upper School have celebrated the final two days of Italian learning this year and all the classes have had lots of fun and lots of gelato!

Zebra class enjoyed a trip to Marwell Zoo on Thursday, practising animal names in Italian!  First we saw the penguins -  I pinguini. We said ‘ciao’ to la giraffe. We were very interested in the turtles - tartaruga. We used the Makaton and Italian for hippos –ippopotami.  Our favourite animals were the tigers - Le tigri.

Gorilla Class enjoyed revisiting colours and looking for as many objects in the classroom that were that colour! Mazin was a superstar remembering all the Italian colour names!!  Gorilla Class learnt the names of all the ingredients that are used to make Lasagne and Garlic Bread. The Class then cooked a delicious Lasagne and Garlic Bread and thoroughly enjoyed eating it!!  Mohammed and Mason even had seconds!  Gorilla and Rhino Classes joined together in the afternoon to create an Italian Ice Cream Parlour and sold ice cream with sauce and sprinkles to each other. The pupils used Euros to pay for their ice creams … some of the ice creams were very expensive!  Gorilla Class also learnt the Italian names for some animals.

Lion Class made vanilla and chocolate gelato to sell in our very own gelato parlour. We invited friends from other classes to try our gelato, and we practiced our Italian conversations saying ‘Ciao’ and ‘grazie’ to our customers!  We made art using pizza wheels and a negative art Leaning Tower of Pisa.  In Maths, we carried out a survey of our friends favourite gelatos and asked them to try them and choose which one they liked best. We even asked some of the staff what their favourite was too!

Crocodile Class learnt how to make pizzas and the translation of different ingredients from English to Italian. The children used this vocabulary to order and buy their ingredients to make their individual pizzas.

Giraffe Class had great fun recreating a huge map of Italy using green, white and red objects in the style of the Italian flag. We used big foam bricks to make the Coliseum and Leaning Tower of Pisa. Then we finished the day off by making and eating ice creams!
