International Day of Peace Asembly

This week the world celebrated International Day of Peace and in our Friday assembly everybody enjoyed celebrating together.

We learned how to sign ‘peace’ and sang one of our favourite songs ‘Shalom my Friend’ because ‘Shalom’ is the Hebrew word for peace.

The white dove is the internationally recognised symbol for peace so we decided to make our own Cliffdale white dove.   We made the outline of a dove in the middle of the hall floor and each child brought something white to add to the dove to fill in the outline.  We created a wonderful piece of art to represent the dove of peace at Cliffdale.

The children enjoyed singing songs about peace and love and the members of the hand chimes club played for everyone as each child held a candle. One pupil from each class also came and played the Indian Bells to contribute to a song of peace.  Everyone felt very calm and peaceful when they left assembly this week!
