Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival

Reverend Sam welcomed us all to St Nicholas Church for our Harvest Festival again this year. The church is right opposite the school and we always feel very lucky to be able to be in such a special place for a special event.

Reverend Sam welcomed us all to St Nicholas Church for our Harvest Festival again this year. The church is right opposite the school and we always feel very lucky to be able to be in such a special place for a special event.

Lots of our families and carers joined us in the church for Harvest Festival, including aunties, uncles and grandparents too!  It was so lovely to have so many special people with us to share the celebration.

We collected food for Portsmouth Foodbank this year and were delighted to have Jackie Peters from the Foodbank with us for the sixth year running!  We were asked to help with collecting tea, coffee and sugar that the Foodbank will keep in stock and give to local Portsmouth families in need throughout the winter.

Cliffdale families and staff were very generous this year and lots of food was displayed at the front of the church for all to see.  In addition each class had decorated a harvest box which they brought up as part of the service and gave to Jackie and Reverend Sam.

We sang some of our favourite songs for Harvest including the ‘Sun came shining down’, the ‘Harvest Samba’, and everyone’s favourite, ‘Conkers’!  We were all glad that the choir helped everyone with singing the words; they stood at the front of the church and helped us sing every song!  Lots of children also stood at the front of the church to accompany the songs with instrument playing, singing and signing.

Jackie thanked everyone for all of their kind donations which go directly to families in need in Portsmouth; she also said that every year there are more and more families in need of Foodbank help.  Reverend Sam thanked everyone for a wonderful Harvest Festival at St Nicholas church and ended with a prayer of thanks.
