YMCA Fairthorne Manor 2017
On Monday the 8th May 18 pupils from year 5 packed their bags and headed west. YMCA Fairthorne Manor is on the site of an old manor house and its huge grounds near Southampton. The pupils from Cliffdale stayed in Ben’s House which is situated in the old walled garden and is surrounded by woodland and gardens. The pupils were very excited about sharing a room with their friends and for some, it was the first time that they’d slept in a bunk bed. Monday included a site tour after lunch, followed by an afternoon of den building and team challenges. During the evening, after dinner, the pupils spent time with their friends in the park or playing ball games in the MUGA.
Each day was action packed starting in the dining hall with either a cooked or continental breakfast followed by two activities during the morning. After a packed lunch there were two more activities before dinner, followed by an activity before supper and bed. The pupils loved spending their days outside with their friends trying new adventurous activities. Some of the favourites included; kayaking, zip wire, obstacle courses, aqua slide and climbing. The evenings were filled with fun activities too, the bouncy pillow, playing in the park, sing along campfire and the disco. The pupils have had a wonderful week, returning to school with lots of stories to tell and memories that they share.
