Early Years Topic Launch

The Early Years Department launched their first topic of the year titled ‘Spots, Stripes and Scales’.
Environments around the building were set up for children to explore and search for different animals as if they were on safari. Rooms and spaces took on animal themes for example pets, jungle, dinosaurs, zoo, polar and desert.
Classes found animals in all sorts of strange places… Lucy and JJ loved searching for animals in Soft Play with their binoculars and Jasper was quick to find animals in the Environmental Area.
Children loved the opportunity to get messy whether they were creating their own footprints in soil or if they were printing with sponges to create scales of a snake.
The Dear Zoo sensory boxes and sensory tray were a big hit and helped support children understand the sequence of the text.
A great day was had by all and both children and staff are looking forward to more animal fun this term!
