National Doughnut Week – 12th May

On 12th May we had a special assembly celebrating National Doughnut Week!

This is a special week designed to support a wonderful charity called The Children’s Trust. This charity raise awareness during the week by selling doughnuts and fundraising. The Children’s Trust is the UKs leading charity for children with brain injury, as well as children with complex needs.

We took this opportunity to support the charity and to have an unusual assembly! We celebrated the fact that we are all unique and special and that we all love to have fun.  As well as singing some of our favourite songs, all children were able to taste a piece of doughnut.

Lots of children were also able to join in with a doughnut game!  One child held a stick with a doughnut dangling from the end on a piece of ribbon; a second child had to place their hands behind their back, and eat the doughnut without using their hands at all. This was so much fun and the children were brilliant at waiting for the countdown before starting to eat!  Everyone was cheered on by their friends and the pupils all loved having a go at the game!  The staff also had a go too – which made everyone cheer even louder!!
