The Summer shows at Cliffdale are always popular with our families and this year’s show proved to be a huge success, because everyone knew the songs that were used in our ‘Cliffdale Rocks’ show! After a week of rehearsals and preparation activities, everyone was ready to perform their part and despite a few nerves, did a brilliant job with two amazing shows were enjoyed by all our family and friends on the afternoons of the 16th and 17th July.
The show was based around music, dance and fashion through the decades, from the 50s all the way through to today! There were so many songs that everyone knew, the atmosphere was fantastic. The show started in the 1950s with Tiger and Panda class putting their money in the juke box to start each different song of their performance ~ very clever! Hippo and Giraffe took us through the peaceful 1960s, quickly followed by Gorilla and Monkey class whose boys were back in town for the 1970s and many favourites including YMCA! The 80s was a neon performance that included Lion and Kangaroo and then the Spice Girls took the stage for the 90s amongst other memorable performances from Rhino and Elephant. The show was finished by Crocodile and Zebra who brought us right up to the 00s with their brilliant ‘dance off’! The whole school came into the hall for the finale of Queen’s iconic track, ‘We Will Rock You!’ (of course!)
The atmosphere was electric, the costumes were great fun and everyone had a great time. There was lots of clapping and cheering in the finale from the audience who all wanted “more”!
