Arts Week at Cliffdale
22nd – 26th May 2017
Well, what an amazing ‘Arts Week’ we’ve all had at Cliffdale this week! The children have all been incredibly creative and have worked really hard to create some really incredible pieces of work.
This year each class was given a shape and an artist as their focus for the week. As well as the usual shapes such as circles, squares and triangles that some of the lower school classes had, there were also zig-zags, clouds and waves that some of the upper school classes had.
Work was done in all kinds of medium. There were paintings, drawings, models made, textiles work, photography, printing, collage and weaving to name but a few! Classes really did excel in their creativity this year. They used the forest, the local community, as well as the schools own environmental area and grounds for inspiration for their work.
In addition, every class in the school attended a workshop in the art room with an external specialist art teacher, Lin. Throughout the week everyone contributed to huge pieces of artwork that incorporated all the different shapes. In the music room, each class used their music session to create pieces of artwork to music with Elizabeth. This year different musical notes were created using black, white and silver buttons.
Everyone’s hard work came together on Friday to create a wonderful ‘Gallery’ for our families to visit in the afternoon. Work was displayed all around the school, in all the classrooms, the music room and the art room. Lots of our families came to see all our wonderful work, it was fantastic! What a brilliant Arts Week we had!
