A little about myself
I moved to Cliffdale this September to take on the role of Assistant Headteacher. Previously, I have worked in Hampshire mainstream primary schools as a SENCO and Deputy Headteacher. I live in Southsea, so I was keen to work in Portsmouth and support children in my local community. I’m also really enjoying being able to cycle to work! I have two children who both have special needs; one is at mainstream and the other attends Redwood Park; they challenge me and make me laugh every day. I love to walk by the beach (even with two very reluctant children) and feel very lucky to live near the sea. I also spend lots of time on DIY, having bought a very old and rundown house… I like to be busy!
What excites me about my role
I was really excited to be moving into Special Education as I am passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with SEN. I really enjoy working as part of the Solent Academies Trust, as I feel very supported by colleagues at Mary Rose and Redwood. I have loved getting to know all the children and staff at Cliffdale – they are great! I also love working with families and want to develop relationships with our parents and carers at Cliffdale. Part of my role is ensuring that all our staff have the training and support they need to do the best job for the children. I love helping develop adults as well as children, because I strongly believe we all need to continue learning.
