A little about myself
I have been teaching at Cliffdale for the last six years. I have worked with children of all ages and my specialism when training was English. I have two children who keep me very busy and they often end up helping me prepare things for the classroom; teaching is definitely a family affair! I love camping holidays, walking and being outdoors; there is nothing quite like a camp fire and a good sing song! In my spare time I enjoy crafts such as pyrography, card making and jewellery design. As a family we all love baking too.
What excites me about my role within the Academy
My role within school has changed over the last two years and as well as having a responsibility for planning with an outdoor learning focus, I am now a specialist Forest school teacher. I find this both exciting and challenging. I am working with all the different classes taking them out for either a morning or afternoon session for one term. I enjoy the challenge of working outdoors in the forest setting, helping children learn to care for the environment around them alongside focused activities that promote confidence and nurture self- esteem. I believe that experience outdoors enhances the learning and often incorporates team building, critical thinking skills and problem solving too.
I feel privileged to work at Cliffdale, where no day is the same and the children are very special.
